Official: black sheep are more
intelligent than humans.

After a 2012 University of Cambridge study found that sheep could 'learn' to do things as quickly as rodents, monkeys and humans, scientists now believe that a particular French breed of black sheep has remarkable powers of perception.

Following on from Cambridge neuroscientist Professor Jenny Morton’s findings that a mixed flock were ‘quite intelligent animals – they seem to be able to recognize people and even respond when you call their name‘ - Professor Jacques Lenoir of Bordeaux University launched a fresh study into black sheep.

Six black and six white sheep were given the choice of feeding from buckets that were placed in front of eight cardboard figures. Four of these were well-known US and UK politicians – Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton, David Cameron and Jeremy Corbyn – and four were random members of the public.

While the white sheep failed to discriminate between the figures, the black sheep all refused to eat from the politicians’ buckets. “The extraordinary thing” said Professor Lenoir, “was that when we removed the other figures, the sheep preferred to go hungry rather than trust the politicians!”

Professeur Lenoir believes that large black sheep from the Languedoc region may possess unusual powers of perception, and plans to carry out further research with cardboard cut-out journalists and bloggers.
